DIY Pom-Pom Sunhat

This is something I’ve been seeing a lot lately: a sunhat with pom-poms around the band. Most of the ones I’ve seen retail for $25 or more, some even being over $100. So I thought I’d try making my own. Honestly, this was one of the easiest DIY’s I’ve ever done; it took under 5 minutes and turned out pretty good if I do say so myself!

Materials Needed:
Floppy Sun Hat (purchased mine at Wal-Mart for $6.97)
Hot Glue Gun (I already had one, but Wal-Mart sells them for like $3)
Pop-Poms (purchased at Michael’s Craft Store for $6.99)
Scissors (already owned)

Step 1: Pre-heat glue gun

Step 2: My sunhat came with a weird straw ribbon right where I’d be gluing the pom-poms, so I obviously had to cut that off.

Step 3: Unravel pom-poms. Mine came on a string (which probably made it easier to attach), so I had to unravel them from their container.

Step 4: Start gluing the poms onto the hat. Tip: most sunhats have circular lines where the straw is, so pick a line and make sure all the pom-poms stay on that line. It will make it look more store-bought.

Step 5: Once the whole band is covered with pom-poms, cut the string and attach the end and you are ready to wear it!

And there you have it, your own pom-pom sun hat. This is great because you can customize whatever color hat or pom-poms you want.

Is this a DIY you would try? If so, let me know in the comments below!
