Fall is quickly approaching, which means cozy scarves, over the knee boots and pumpkin candles. Time to put away the bikinis and pull out the jeans! Keep reading for my tips on getting fall ready.
Before Going Shopping…
Make sure you spend some time digging in your closet to find all your old fall clothes before you go out and buy new ones. If you already have two or three pairs of black booties, you probably don’t need to buy more. You might have forgotten about them over the summer, so make sure you see what you spend your money.
Back to School Shopping is Not Just for Kids
“Back to School” season is a great time to stock up on office essentials – pens, notepads, sticky-notes, etc. You’re already thinking about this stuff (whether you have kids or have just seen commercials), the stores are fully stocked and there are usually some pretty good deals.
Probably one of my favorite things about fall is getting to pick out some new candles. I personally love the Bath & Body Works 3-Wick candles. They have so many options, they all smell great and they last forever! They are always having a sale or there is some sort of coupon available. My rule: never pay full price for a B&B candle.
Warm Toned Make-Up & Vamp Lips
Time to put away the bronzer and hot pink lipstick, and pull out the warmer tones and vamp lips. For eye make-up, think of shades like burnt orange, rich browns or deep plums. For the lips, think of shades like wine, berry, plum or deepened red. Any of the colors you think of when you hear autumn are perfect for a make-up look. However, as much as I wish make-up lasted forever, it can and will go bad eventually. If you are going to re-use make-up from last season, make sure you open it up and double check that it’s still useable.
Changing your living space for each season can bring new life into a room, even if it’s something small. Think about switching from a lightweight throw blanket to a cozy, cream colored one, or maybe adding some leaves to a coffee table. Buying fake leaves and fake pumpkins at places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels is a great start, but there is nothing like the real thing. Go out and buy a real pumpkin (and take some cute pumpkin patch pictures) to spruce up your home.
Seriously, who doesn’t love sweater season? Throwing on a nice sweater is so effortless and it looks like you’re totally put together (which most of the time, I’m not..). Plus, you can get some great deals on beautiful fall sweaters. Old Navy is great for budget friendly, everyday sweaters. Macy’s is another awesome place to find great deals, especially the clearance rack.
Booties, Booties, Booties!
Nothing screams fall like busting out the booties. Every shelve in every store will be filled with booties is every size, shape and color now that’s it’s September. If you are looking for the budget friendly options, JustFab has had booties since August and they are so affordable and surprisingly durable.
